I think the SD60 would be amazing for TS2016!
Heres some info...
The SD60 heading a freight towards the NS headquarters yard with a empty hopper train.
The EMD SD60 is a 6-axle engine made by General Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD). Built for Heavy haul and freight services it was introduced in 1984. Production ran until 1995. The engine had 16 Cylinders, over 3,800 horsepower and was proved to be more reliable and fuel-efficient. Between 1984 to 1955 only 1,140 was made. Most Railroads modified their SD60s to todays standards, some even include tunnel motors!!
But would it be good for TS2016, how is it extreme?
The SD60 is a very clever machine. With its individual horn and bell, the SD60 is recognisable all over America. It would add some variety to TS2016 and unlike some other american engines available on Steam, this is capable of just under 100 mph but of course, it has never been tested.
What liveries would come with it?
This engine was hired by 10 different companies including CSX, NS and SP. However, this train is now only owned by NS and CSX. Although it isn't rare to see some CP or ConRail liveries around America.
And what about the route, which one does it suit?
You are most likely to see these trains over Raton Pass and the NS Coal District, (which happens to be on Steam). Its main duties are hauling hoppers and empties from quarries to the city yards. You are also likely to find them around CSX switching yards. This is a multiple duty engine and would suit TS2016 very nicely!!
