Howdy!

In this article, I will be sharing my views on why the DB BR440 should be included with Train Simulator.

Quick History

This locomotive was derived from the early German DMU/EMUs (424, 425 etc) when German railway networks said they needed longer trains to cover longer distances to run alongside ICE trains, so some new trains were ordered. These were the class 440, 442 and 445, all of which are still in use today. The first of the lot was the 440 which ran trains around the Munich and Cologne areas. Some have been used around Berlin but were not proved to be successful in that area. They were only found on S-Bahn services and when they needed to be moved to other locations, a trusty 261/294 would haul them along with an intermodal freight train. But when the 442 was introduced, Rail providers didn't see much use for these trains. But some are still used on lines such as Munich - Rosenheim and Munich - Augsburg with a few left on the Aachen to Cologne lines.

Why Should They Be Added To Train Sim?

I know already that this locomotive has been made by a third party developer, But that is not good enough. As with all DLCs, I think DTG could really nail this. I think this engine would work really well and would make an excellent addon. With a totally individual horn compared to the other trains.

What Route Would This Be For?

Since this engine is wide spread around Germany, there are many routes this could be for. My top recommendations would be Cologne - Dusseldorf, Munich - Rosenheim and Berlin Wittenburg only because they have worked around there before.

I would really like this to be included for Train Sim.
