In 2008, Deutsche Bahn was looking to replace their ageing fleet of Class 290 shunters, for this they turned to Voith Turbo who had recently presented their new family design of locomotives, the Gravita.
The Voith Gravita is a family of state-of-the-art diesel shunting locomotives designed to bring shunting and medium freight services into the modern era, featuring multiple variations thanks to a modular design, it was to become a a key part in Germany’s freight movements.
DB ordered 130 of the 10BB variant of the Voith Gravita, this became classified as the DB BR 260 and 261, the only difference between the 2 being the 261 having a diesel particulate filter.

The DB BR 261 ‘Voith Gravita’ for Train Simulator comes in DB Red livery and features the 10BB design complete with a modern, main line-capable cab including accurate throttle and brake control, various selectable headlight modes, opening windows and moveable blinds. The DB BR 261 comes with the Rnoos 64 Freight Car, Zacns95 Tank Freight Car and scenarios for Mannheim to Karlsruhe.
